POSTPARTUM RECOVERY
What is it?
The postpartum period is a time of healing and adjustment. Whether you’ve had a vaginal delivery or a C-section, your body undergoes significant changes after childbirth that can affect your pelvic floor, core strength, posture, and overall function. Common issues include pelvic pain, incontinence, diastasis recti, and fatigue. Physiotherapy supports a safe, gradual return to movement and helps address any discomfort or dysfunction so you can feel strong, confident, and supported during recovery.
What to expect in physiotherapy
Your physiotherapist will assess your pelvic floor function, abdominal wall (for diastasis recti), posture, and movement habits. Treatment may include pelvic floor and core strengthening, scar mobilization (if needed), education on lifting and feeding positions, and guidance on returning to exercise safely. Support is tailored to your body and your goals—whether that’s daily function or returning to sport.
