PELVIC FLOOR THERAPY
What is it?
Pelvic floor therapy is a specialized form of physiotherapy that focuses on assessing and treating dysfunction in the muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues of the pelvic floor. These muscles play a critical role in bladder and bowel control, core stability, and sexual health. When they become weak, tight, or uncoordinated, they can lead to symptoms such as incontinence, pelvic pain, constipation, and prolapse. Pelvic floor therapy is a safe, non-invasive, and effective treatment for restoring proper function and improving quality of life.
What to expect in physiotherapy
What to Expect in a Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy Assessment
Your physiotherapist will perform a detailed and respectful assessment that may include both external and internal evaluation of the pelvic floor muscles (if appropriate and with your consent). Treatment is personalized and may include pelvic floor muscle training, relaxation and breathing techniques, manual therapy, biofeedback, and education on bladder and bowel habits, posture, and lifestyle. Sessions are always approached with care and sensitivity, and your comfort is prioritized every step of the way.
