CHRONIC PELVIC PAIN SYNDROME

Qu'est-ce que c'est?

It is a persistent pelvic pain lasting six months or more without infection or other identifiable cause.
Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome affects approximately 15% of women worldwide and is a complex condition involving persistent pain in the pelvic region lasting longer than six months. In Canada, CPPS is a common reason for referrals to pelvic health physiotherapists. The pain can be caused by a combination of muscular, neurological, and visceral factors and often impacts quality of life, daily activities, and mental health.

What to expect in physiotherapy

Your physiotherapist will conduct a thorough assessment to identify contributing factors such as pelvic floor muscle tightness or weakness, nerve irritation, and postural imbalances. Treatment may include manual therapy, pelvic floor relaxation techniques, pain neuroscience education, biofeedback, and tailored exercise programs. Addressing both physical and emotional aspects, physiotherapy aims to reduce pain, improve function, and enhance overall well-being.
